I am in the process of getting rid of clutter. After living in our house for six years now, we have accumulated a lot of JUNK!! I went up to my daughter, Caroline's room to begin the day's work. I was getting so upset with her as I was finding sucker sticks crammed under her bed, along with all kinds of mess. I began to carry on a conversation with her in my mind that wasn't very pleasant. Then I find a stack of pastel colored note cards. These note cards had her writing on them so I began reading. They were prayers to God that she had written on her own accord. I had no idea that she was doing this.
Caroline just turned eleven years old, and is a wonderful girl - she just needs to clean her room! As I was reading these notes to God, I began thanking Him for His faithfulness. I got to get a glimpse into my little girls heart this morning, and I liked what I saw. I thought of a Scripture "man looks on the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart". If I had to choose between a neat freak who was cold towards God, or a little girl who was messy but had a tender heart; I would choose the messy girl any day.
Not to say that I will excuse her from cleaning her room; I was just reminded to stay focused on her heart. I would love to share some of her prayers, but I will need to get her permission first. It is great to see that God is moving on our children's hearts when we aren't looking!

She got the heart from you and the messy from me!
Isn't God so good to let us get these bits of encouragement about our children.
Great post! I have a couple of stories that our son wrote...he drew out the entire life of Christ. Now that he is in the military I have taken that faded, yellowing picture out many times. O, and he was messy too! I love your blog! God bless :-D
this is awesome!! i'm pretty sure my mom would totally empathize with you...if there was one major thing that she was always having to tell me to do growing up, it was CLEAN MY ROOM!! haha! Some of us are just a little (or a lot!) messier than others :/ I'd like to tell you that she'll grow out of it, but looking at my track record, i'd say i'm still growing out of it :D However, i am a lot better than i was when i was 11...so there is hope!
Simplifying is so good in so many ways. I just love your blog by the way
